Silent radio station launches quietly

A new radio station has been launched which plays music ... silently.
Twitter based radio station 'Twadio' plays songs by popular artists ranging from Rihanna to Oasis, but not in a way anyone can listen to.
Its creators suggest that simply by knowing the name of a track and the artist, the songs can get stuck in your head in the same way as a regular radio station.
As such "listeners" who sign up to the station on Twitter, receive the details of a new song every few minutes on their computer or mobile phone.
Hundreds of people have already signed up to what the Emperor would have almost certainly received if he had asked for a radio station instead of new clothes.
Andrew Dubber, one of the guys behind Twadio, and a Senior Lecturer in Music Industries at Birmingham City University, said: "With most of the songs on the radio these days, you already know how they go. You can just hear them in your head.
"So why actually play them? We use the simple suggestive power of the mere mention of a catchy song to start that tune playing in your brain."
Twadio automatically puts together playlists from a database of thousands of songs which will get stuck in you head when you read the title.
For example can you read "U Can't Touch This by MC Hammer" without humming it or "Can't Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue" without thinking "La la la - la la la laaa la"?
Co-founder Stef Lewandowski, added: "You can listen to Twadio in places where you can’t normally listen to music even or use it to shake that awful Spice Girls track out of your brain that you heard in the taxi - at least that’s the idea."
Should you not know how one of the songs goes Twadio links to other websites where you can actually hear - and buy - the music.
