Woman gives birth on hen night ... dressed as bee ... and didn't know she was pregnant

A woman who didn't even know she was pregnant gave birth to her son while dressed as a giant bumblebee on a hen night.

When Ally Ashwell went out in Blackpool to celebrate her friends upcoming wedding the only thing she thought was odd was that she was dressed as a bumblebee.

But after starting to feel unwell she returned to her hotel room on her own and shortly after her waters broke.

The human resources officer from Newcastle - who had no idea she was pregnant - quickly dialed 999, but gave birth to her son before they arrived.

A spokesman (and apparently a master of understatement) for the Blackpool Victoria Hospital where she was taken said: "It is very unusual for a baby to be born in this situation."
