Naturists welcome at historic gardens
A pair of naked gardeners are inviting members of the public to strip off and inspect their shrubs.Ian and Barbara Pollard, of Abbey House Gardens in Wiltshire, have for years enjoyed being naked while maintaining their huge gardens filled with 10,000 different plants.
Normally they cover up when guests visit the plush gardens which has the largest collection of roses in the country, but now they are offering ‘Clothes Optional’ days.
On the last such day, 1st June, over 280 people turned up, many who stripped off before wandering around.
Ian and Barbara say they feel that plants and humans are genetically very similar and it’s perfectly possible to live in harmony together and enjoy the gardens as nature intended.
"The ‘clothes optional’ tag is an important one; this is not a place where you feel compelled to take off your clothes; it is purely a personal choice and you are under no pressure to do so," they added. More more ‘Clothes Optional’ days are planned on Saturday 12th July, Friday 15th August, Saturday 16th August, Sunday 17th August and Sunday 7th September.
