The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this Monday (6) that the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces has begun preparations to carry out military exercises in the near future. These will involve missile units from the Southern Military District, including aviation and naval forces, on orders from the Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin.

According to the ministry’s statement, the exercises aim to increase the readiness of non-strategic nuclear forces to carry out combat missions. During these trainings, the Russian Armed Forces will practice a series of activities related to the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons.

The ministry highlighted that such exercises aim to maintain the readiness of personnel and equipment of units for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons in response to possible threats. The statement highlighted the importance of these actions to guarantee Russia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the face of provocative statements and threats from Western authorities against the country.
