The Memory, Truth and Justice Meeting (EMVyJ), a collective that brings together hundreds of human rights, social, unemployed, trade union, political, and artistic organizations, stated that: “we repudiate the call for an act in ‘Homage’ to the genocidal the last civil-military dictatorship, convened by Victoria Villarruel. We also repudiate the granting that Cambiemos made of the Buenos Aires Legislature for that purpose.
With the slogans “30,000 detainees disappeared, children were expropriated and handed over to repressors; No to the demand for torture and extermination in clandestine detention centers; IT WAS NOT A WAR, IT WAS A GENOCIDE; THEY WERE CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY” convened this Monday 9/4 at the door of the Buenos Aires Legislature – Peru 160 – CABA where at 12 noon a press conference and at 4:30 pm the act of repudiation.

Alejandrina Barry, legislator for the PTS in the Frente de Izquierda Unidad, an organization that is part of the EMVyJ, will participate in the press conference, and described Villarruel’s act as a “provocation”: “It is a true provocation that the Legislature carry out an activity 40 years after the end of the dictatorship to promote impunity for the most atrocious crimes of state terrorism,” she denounced on her social networks, adding: “In my capacity as a legislator and daughter of the disappeared, I strongly repudiate that commemoration , which is a vindication of the genocidal dictatorship”.
