The dismissal of state workers was one of the first measures announced by the government through the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, but it remained under the supervision of the Chief of Staff Nicolás Posse. The Government will leave employees who have contracts from 2023 out of work.

The decree makes it explicit that the rest of the contracts of the modalities it mentions will only be renewed for 90 days. That is to say, thousands of workers who have been working in their facilities for years will be left without a contract at the end of three months. In these cases, the Decree proposes “an exhaustive survey of contracted personnel whose date of entry into the Administration is prior to January 1, 2023 in order to evaluate the renewal of the contracts mentioned above.”

Monotributistas of different contracting modalities that are not explicit in the decree join the universe of workers who may be left out of the renewals.

Members of the ATE Classist Group consulted stated that “we are organizing the fight against layoffs in the State, starting with the hired colleagues. The layoffs are part of a general plan of the government towards the workers and popular sectors, so we see that the response we have to give has to be together and in unity with all the sectors attacked”.

Likewise, they stressed that “With this idea we are going to participate with an independent column in the mobilization called for this Wednesday the 27th, proposing to the CGT and the CTA that we need an active strike now, against the DNU and the layoffs in the State.”
