A Presidency of Russia denounced President Joe Biden’s administration for allegedly employing legal and illegal methods to eliminate political opponents.
The accusation came after the historic conviction of the former American president Donald Trumpwho on Thursday was found guilty in a bribery case related to former porn star Stormy Daniels.
Dmitry Peskovmain spokesperson for Vladimir Putinexpressed concern about the political situation in the United States.
“The fact that a ‘de facto’ elimination of political rivals, by all possible legal and illegal means, is taking place there is obvious,” Peskov told reporters on Friday.
Trump was convicted on all 34 counts in the Manhattan Criminal CourtNew York, becoming the first former US president to be criminally convicted.
The case centered on the falsification of business records to cover up a sex scandal during the presidential campaign of 2016, threatening his candidacy.
The judicial process lasted for months, with five weeks dedicated solely to hearing witnesses.
A jury of 12 people deliberated for two days before issuing the verdict. Trump’s sentence will be announced on July 11.
