White sauce is a classic Italian sauce, made from milk, flour and butter. It is a versatile sauce that can be served with pasta, meat, chicken and fish.

For your White Pasta Sauce to be well seasoned and wonderful, use the suggested ingredients:

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

  • 1/2 chopped onion

  • 1 tablespoon of wheat flour

  • 1/2 liter of milk

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Directions

  • In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and sauté until transparent.
  • Add the wheat flour and stir for 2 minutes, to form a roux.
  • Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  • Turn off the heat and add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until it melts.

Notes

  • White sauce with chicken: sauté shredded chicken in the sauce before adding the cheese.
  • White sauce with shrimp: sauté cooked shrimp in the sauce before adding the cheese.
  • White sauce with mushrooms: sauté chopped mushrooms in the sauce before adding the cheese.
