Ubisoft, known for popular gaming franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, is intensifying its involvement in blockchain gaming. The company recently joined the XPLA network, a blockchain ecosystem set up by traditional gaming company Com2uS, as a validator. This marks the continuation of Ubisoft’s support of various projects within the blockchain space.
XPLA now has 64 validators
The announcement came late Thursday from XPLA, which now boasts of having 64 validators in its ecosystem. Validators play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of the blockchain and analyzing data to drive operational efficiency. “It’s an honor to welcome Ubisoft as one of our validators,” said Paul Kim, the head of the XPLA team. “We look forward to working together to create a more transparent and trustworthy Web3 ecosystem, focused on delivering an immersive gaming experience worldwide.”
Ubisoft has previously supported other networks such as Tezos, Hedera, and Cronos, and has invested in several projects and startups through its Entrepreneurs Lab program. “By joining the XPLA mainnet as a validator, we are embracing the vision of a decentralized Web3 gaming ecosystem,” said Laetitia Leclerc, Business Analyst for Blockchain Nodes at Ubisoft. “This partnership offers exciting new opportunities for collaboration and aims to create engaging and rewarding experiences for Web3 players and developers alike.”
XPLA Foundation includes various partners
The XPLA Foundation, which runs the mainnet, includes partners such as Com2uS, Google Cloud, and Animoca Brands, and has already launched several crypto games, including titles based on well-known IPs such as Summoners War and The Walking Dead.
In addition to supporting various blockchain networks, Ubisoft has also experimented with NFT-based projects, releasing NFTs for its Rabbids IP via The Sandbox, among others. Ubisoft recently announced that it will integrate its Watch Dogs game franchise into the NFT card fighting game Cross the Ages, which it previously invested in. Currently, Ubisoft is preparing its first original NFT game: Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which will be released on the Oasys blockchain.
