Palestinian emergency services discovered the bodies of 180 people, including elderly women and children, in a mass grave at the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis, broadcaster Al Jazeera reported.
The bodies were found in the hospital courtyard over the weekend, it was reported.
Following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the city on April 7, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the Israel Defense Forces eliminated the Palestinian Hamas movement in a military structure in the city.
Israel’s ground incursion into the Gaza Strip was triggered by Hamas’ attack on the Jewish state on October 7, 2023, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and around 240 kidnappings. Local authorities report that more than 34,000 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip to date.
