Daniel Scioli entered politics in 1997, when he was elected national deputy for the PJ. 27 years have passed since then and if something characterized his career it was the ability to adapt to all the governments in power, occupying different positions in the vast majority of them. Throughout all this time his leaps could be defined with the famous phrase that he attributes to Groucho Marx: “These are my principles and if you don’t like them, I have others.”

He knew how to be with Menem, with Duhalde, with Néstor and Cristina Kirchner. He was chosen by the latter to head the presidential ticket in 2015 and in 2019 he returned to occupy a position in the Frente de Todos government, being ambassador to Brazil until December 2023, with excellent relations with Bolsonaro. Now Scioli professes the faith of La Libertad Avanza and holds the position of Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the Nation. But not only did he manage to adapt to the current times to remain in public office, demonstrating that anti-caste speeches are only for TV, but he does so by publicly defending Milei’s adjusting and starving government.

This long weekend, in the midst of the tourist movement for Easter, Scioli took advantage of the moment to come out to support the president’s management and shower him with praise. “Yes, there is a tourist boom during Holy Week. This is the result of the open skies policy, greater deregulation and airline competitiveness promoted by President Javier Milei,” he wrote in his account. X.

“Deregulation” and “airline competitiveness” are euphemisms to describe official policy, aimed at favoring different businessmen in the sector and carrying out the plan to empty and privatize Aerolíneas Argentinas that obsesses the government and the businessmen to whom it responds. Without going further, The layoffs at the GPS company, outsourced to Aerolíneas, are part of that plan that the workers have been facing. It is not the first time that Scioli, released and even uncontrolled since his incorporation into La Libertad Avanza, has shown himself to be a great defender of this “deregulation.”

With the faith of the converts, who until 3 months ago said he stood on the sidewalk in front of Milei, now defends him tooth and nail. The one that in 2015 was presented as the option “to confront the right”, today once again makes it clear how functional that strategy was (which was repeated in the last 4 years) for the right to grow like never before and return to the government , this time with the help of Milei.

And, at the same time, it is the faithful demonstration that both Scioli, and the vast majority of politicians who make up the ranks of the large traditional parties, are members of that caste that is moved by its own interests at the service of big businessmen. and the power in power, always ready to unleash the adjustment against the vast majority of the population.
