Ingredients
1 cup white rice
4 cups of water
1 liter of milk
1 can of condensed milk
1 pinch of salt
1 cinnamon stick
Lemon peel (optional)
Cinnamon powder for sprinkling (optional)
Directions
- In a large pot, add rice, water and a pinch of salt.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- In another pan, heat the milk over medium heat.
- Add condensed milk, cinnamon stick and lemon peel (if using).
- Stir well to mix the ingredients.
- When the rice is cooked, slowly pour the milk mixture into the pan with the rice.
- Stir constantly to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom.
- Cook the rice pudding over low heat, stirring regularly, until the mixture begins to thicken and takes on a creamy consistency.
This usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. - Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon rind (if used) and transfer the rice pudding to a serving bowl.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle ground cinnamon on top, if desired.
- Sweet rice can be served hot, warm or cold, according to your preference.
You can also refrigerate it before serving if you want a chilled version.
