Skillet cheese bread is a quicker and more practical version of preparing the classic Minas Gerais cheese bread. It’s made with the same basic ingredients, but it’s baked in a non-stick pan, which makes the preparation process simpler and quicker.

Skillet cheese bread is a great option for breakfast, a snack or a snack. 
It is a versatile recipe that can be served plain, with side dishes or stuffed.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sweet cassava starch

  • 1/2 cup (tea) sour cassava starch

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • Olive oil to grease the pan

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix the egg, cream cheese, sweet cassava starch, sour cassava starch, parmesan cheese and salt well.
  • Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. 
    Grease with a little olive oil.
  • Pour a portion of the batter into the frying pan and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden.
  • Repeat the process with the rest of the dough.

Notes

  • For a more elastic cheese bread, add 1 tablespoon of milk or water to the dough.
  • For a tastier cheese bread, use your favorite cheeses, such as mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese or gorgonzola cheese.
  • If you want, you can fill the cheese breads with ham, chicken, pepperoni or other ingredients of your choice.
