Ingredients

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 cups of sugar (tea)

  • 1 cup (tea) oil

  • 2 cups (tea) of wheat flour

  • 1 cup (tea) of orange juice

  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

  • Orange zest to taste (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (medium temperature).
  • Grease and flour a round pan with a central hole measuring 24 cm in diameter.
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the oil and orange juice and beat until combined.
  • In another bowl, mix the wheat flour and baking powder.
  • Add to the wet ingredients and mix gently until you obtain a homogeneous dough.
  • If desired, add orange zest.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely before unmolding.

Notes

  • For an even tastier cake, use fresh oranges and scrape the peel carefully so as not to get the white part.
  • If you want a moister cake, add 1/2 cup (tea) of milk to the dough.
  • For a cake with icing, brush the cake while still warm with an orange syrup made with orange juice, sugar and cinnamon.
