Ingredients
500g chicken breast cut into strips or cubes
2 minced garlic cloves
1 medium chopped onion
1/2 cup ketchup
1 can of cream (no whey)
1 tablespoon butter or oil
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Sliced mushrooms (optional)
Straw potato to accompany
Cooked white rice to serve
Directions
- In a large saucepan, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan, sautéing until the onion is translucent and the garlic releases its aroma.
- Add the chicken strips or cubes to the pan, season with salt and pepper to taste, and cook until the chicken is well browned and cooked through.
- If desired, add sliced champignons to the pan and cook for a few more minutes.
- Then add the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce to the chicken.
- Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the unsweetened cream to the mixture, stirring carefully so that the cream is incorporated into the sauce and does not burn.
- Let the stroganoff cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally so the flavors blend.
- Taste the sauce and adjust salt and pepper if necessary.
- When the sauce is hot and creamy, the chicken stroganoff is ready to serve.
- Serve the chicken stroganoff over boiled white rice and top it with potato sticks to give it a crunchy texture.
