Ingredients
1 kg of potatoes (peeled and cut into pieces)
2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of milk
Salt and pepper to taste
500g ground meat (can be beef, chicken or pork)
1 chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 chopped tomato
1/2 cup tomato sauce
Salt, pepper, and seasonings to taste (paprika, cumin, etc.)
Oil for sautéing
Directions
- Cook the potatoes in salted water until they are soft.
- Drain the potatoes and puree them using a ricer or mixer.
- Add the butter, milk, salt and pepper to the puree, mixing well. Reserve.
- In a pan, heat a little oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
- Add the ground beef and cook until it is golden brown.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, seasonings, salt and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes until the flavors blend well. Reserve.
- In an ovenproof dish, place half of the mashed potatoes at the bottom.
- Add the minced meat filling over the puree.
- Cover the filling with the other half of the puree, spreading it evenly.
- If you wish, you can sprinkle grated cheese on top to make it gratin.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven at 180°C for around 20-25 minutes, or until the surface is golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
