For your pastry dough to be perfect, use the ingredients below and follow the instructions in the preparation method.
Ingredients
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups of wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (can be sunflower, canola or corn oil)
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil and mix well with your hands until the mixture has a crumbly texture.
- Gradually add the warm water to the mixture, while kneading with your hands, until you get a smooth, homogeneous dough.
- If the dough is too dry, add a little more water.
- If it’s too wet, add a little more flour.
- Form a ball with the dough, cover it with a clean cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into small walnut-sized balls.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball of dough with a rolling pin until very thin (about 2-3 mm thick).
- Place the stuffing of your choice in one of the halves of the rolled out dough, leaving a border of about 1 cm.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling, forming a half moon, and press the edges with a fork to seal well.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
- Heat the oil in a deep pan to approximately 180°C and fry the pastries, a few at a time, until golden and crispy.
- Remove the pastries from the pan with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy your delicious homemade pastries!
