Here is a wonderful basic oven pasta recipe that you can follow:

Ingredients

  • 500g pasta (penne, fusilli, rigatoni, etc.)

  • 500g tomato sauce (or sauce of your choice)

  • 250g grated mozzarella cheese

  • 100g grated parmesan cheese

  • 1 small chopped onion

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 teaspoon oregano (or other dried herbs to taste)

  • 1/2 cup water (optional, to keep the pasta from getting too dry)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Cook pasta in a large pot of salted water according to package directions until al dente.
  • Run and book.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
  • Then add the minced garlic and sauté for a few more minutes.
  • Add the tomato sauce to the skillet and mix well with the sauteed onion and garlic.
Season with salt, pepper and oregano (or other dried herbs of your choice).
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little water to obtain a more suitable consistency for cooking pasta in the oven.
  • Toss cooked pasta with sauce in skillet, making sure all pasta pieces are well coated.
  • In a large refractory or roasting pan, spread a layer of half the pasta with sauce.
  • Cover with half of the grated mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining layer of macaroni and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and place in the preheated oven.
  • Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Remove the oven noodles from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
