  • 1 and 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup of hot water

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 2 cups of icing sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a round cake tin approximately 23 cm in diameter with butter and flour.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil and vanilla essence to the dry mixture.
  • Beat well until you get a homogeneous mass.
  • Add the hot water to the dough and mix until well incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • While the cake bakes, prepare the frosting.
  • In a pan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the milk and cocoa powder, stirring until the mixture is smooth.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add the icing sugar and vanilla essence.
  • Stir well until you get smooth, glossy coverage.
  • When the cake is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes in the pan.
  • Then unmold it and place it on a serving plate.
  • Pour the chocolate frosting over the cake, spreading it evenly over the entire surface.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely so that the frosting sets before serving.
