During the treatment of the Bases Law in Congress, both in the commissions and in the Chamber of Deputies, the interventions of the left-wing legislators stood out above the rest. The complaints made by the deputies of the Left Front, Myriam Bregman, Christian Castillo, Nicolás del Caño, Alejandro Vilca and Romina del Plá, had an enormous impact. They were also highly praised for having been the only ones to point out that this package of laws that make up the Base Law are a proper attack on the achievements of workers, retirees, and students. They also denounced that the bill, which has half a sanction, includes the delivery of national assets, with the privatization of companies such as Aerolíneas Argentinas, leaving thousands of layoffs.

They also demonstrated that the package of laws, while reimposing the salary tax, lowers taxes on large businessmen (RIGI and allows scandalous money laundering). The bloody business of drug trafficking will find its own tax haven in the country.

In those two days that the debate lasted in the Chamber of Deputies, the left denounced the passivity of the Peronist leaderships of the CGT, CTA and social movements. He maintained that it was not enough to make big speeches on campus and then not call for mobilization.

The strike called by the CGT this May 9 demonstrated the anger of the workers and small merchants, many of them also joined the measure of force. The working class paralyzed the country. However, the CGT leadership wants to use it as a measure to pressure and negotiate, since it did not announce how the fight continues. That is why the left and combative unionism demand that they call for a new national strike and mobilization when it is discussed in the Senate.

When the law is discussed in the Senate, we have to mobilize thousands throughout the country. There is strength to defeat the attack of the Milei government. This was demonstrated by the mobilizations that began on December 20 and continued until reaching the immense university mobilization and the general strike on May 9.

That is why We call these open meetings to debate and exchange with thousands of colleagues who have been participating in the general strike, the fight against the basic law, the university march, the neighborhood assemblies. The PTS actively participates in these mobilizations, as well as the struggles that the workers of Unidxs por la Cultura are giving; the workers fired from State, GPS, Conicet; the health workers of Río Negro; or in the defense of the Télam news agency, in which hundreds of workers lost their jobs.

In these assemblies, along with the immediate perspectives of struggle, we also want to discuss a fundamental problem: in the face of the Government’s plan and international financial capital, opposition Peronism proposes a capitalism regulated by the State, a project that has already failed, as was seen. in the Government of the Frente de Todos. For this reason, we want to discuss with thousands of colleagues the need to establish a socialist and revolutionary political alternative for workers, which proposes a strategy and a program so that the capitalists pay for the crisis.

Join the PTS Open Assemblies to see how we continue.
