The same day that the national government revives the privatization plan for Aerolíneas Argentinas, its largest GPS outsourcer, lays off new workers at Ezeiza and Aeroparque. Added to the more than 170 outsourced workers laid off since March, voluntary retirements, layoffs and salary freezes on staff and a permanent defunding and fake news campaign against the flag line and especially its workers.

“The layoffs are the starkest reflection of the adjustment and destruction that is being done to Aerolíneas Argentinas” denounces the internal Commission of GPS workers, warning that this attack is part of an overall plan that the national government has that is only trying to hand over our flag line to its business friends.

Workers denounce the role of the outsourced aeronautical workers union “Our union UPADEP did not even release a statement rejecting the more than 170 layoffs from March to date, a collaboration with the company never seen before”. As they had already reported at the time and had managed to stop, several of those fired on this occasion were part of “black lists” that had infiltrated a few weeks ago.

These dismissals add to the attack on all Aerolíneas Argentinas workers who are fighting against the salary freeze, their last joint meeting was last year, losing purchasing power. It adds to the campaign of terror that imposed more than 1,500 voluntary retirements among troops and several layoffs.

The government had a judicial setback with a precautionary measure that suspended Javier Milei’s decree due to its essentiality in aeronautical activity. An essentiality that only seeks to prohibit the right to strike in the midst of layoffs and a regular attack on workers’ rights.

The struggle of the outsourced and current workers of Aerolíneas Argentinas is a struggle witnessed by all of the country’s workers. The final objective of privatization of the flag line is seen as an attack on workers and their rights, which the government intends for all unions and in favor of large businessmen. “No one is saved alone, the government is willing to destroy our jobs and achievements. “We have to achieve unity between employees and outsourced workers in common assemblies where a plan of struggle is discussed and with the unions at the head.” workers warn.
