According to court documents released this Tuesday, 7th, the judge responsible for the case involving improper management of Trump’s confidential documents postponed the trial in Florida.

“Financing a trial date at this time would be reckless and inconsistent with the court’s duty. The Court therefore vacates the trial date of May 20, 2024,” Judge Cannon wrote in the documents.

In Florida, Donald Trump faces charges that could result in up to 20 years in prison, involving 37 charges related to the manipulation of confidential documents.

According to a previous indictment, the classified materials that Trump stored contained information about defense capabilities and weapons of the US and other nations, details about US nuclear initiatives, vulnerabilities to military attacks and contingency plans, as well as retaliatory measures against foreign aggression.

Trump alleged political motivation in the legal actions, aiming to prevent his candidacy against President Joe Biden in the November 2024 elections.

The former president attended the initial hearing in Miami on June 13 last year, where he classified the accusations as “political persecution” and promised to “completely dismantle the deep state” if he won the elections in 2024.
