During a meeting of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Palestine on Monday, the 8th, the Iranian representative, Amir Said Iravani, stated that “Israel must be punished for all its international misdeeds, which have set fire to the entire region”, as reported by the channel HispanTV.

Iravani specifically mentioned the ongoing war between Israel and the Gaza Strip, characterizing it as genocidal and pointing out that more than 34,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children, have been killed since it began on October 7 last year.

“This attack was unprecedented in modern history in terms of the scale and suddenness of the killings of children, UN medical and humanitarian staff and journalists,” the Iranian envoy said.

Furthermore, in his statements, Iravani criticized the United States for “playing a destructive role” by undermining political and diplomatic devices for establishing peace in the Middle East region, weakening multilateral efforts under the auspices of the United Nations on behalf of its selfish geopolitical interests.
