From Madrid, through Lisbon or London, in New York, Buenos Aires or Sydney, in different parts of the world thousands of people demonstrated to reject Israel’s offensive, which the Israeli Minister of Defense announced this Monday with a “complete siege” to leave the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip without electricity, food, or fuel.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday: “I have ordered a complete siege of the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly,” preannouncing an escalation in attacks against the Gaza Strip.

Gallant’s brutal statements come after an intense night of bombing by the Israeli Army that attacked the Gaza Strip by air and land, leaving at least 500 Palestinians dead, including more than 80 children, and 2,700 injured.

In Madrid in support of Palestine with the slogan “Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people.” Numerous Palestinian flags waved in front of the regional government headquarters.

As Lucia Nistal, a member of Pan y Rosas of the Spanish State, explained, the demonstration in Puerta del Sol was held in solidarity with the Palestinian people, against the declaration of war by the State of Israel. This demonstration in support of the Palestinian resistance does not imply sharing the strategy and methods of Hamas, which aims to establish a theocratic State.

In New York, different organizations called for a demonstration in support of the Palestinians against Israel’s offensive. Slogans were heard such as “from Palestine to Mexico the border walls have to go” and they expressed rejection of the United States’ support for the State of Israel.

In Buenos Aires, Argentina, various organizations demonstrated called by the Argentine Committee of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in an act of repudiation of the aggression of the State of Israel against the people of Palestine.

Among the organizations that participated was the PTS-Frente de Izquierda, with a delegation headed by Alejandrina Barry and Patricio del Corro. The first is a Buenos Aires deputy and the second is a candidate for national deputy for the same district.

In his speech, Del Corro noted, among other things, that “it must be said that the working people of Argentina are with the oppressed people who are now suffering from the bombings in Gaza. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people. Because they are the ones who have been invaded and have been suffering from a policy of the Zionist apartheid state for 75 years. A policy of eliminating a national group. “The major media carry the voice of imperialism, which supports the Zionist policy of the State of Israel.”

He added that “yesterday in the presidential debate, Myriam Bregman made it clear: the policy that is causing the destruction of thousands of lives in Palestine is the apartheid policy of the State of Israel. Now there are bombings with so-called smart planes and smart bombs, worth billions and billions of dollars, falling on the heads of kids who live on less than a dollar a day, who live in an open-air prison. “That is the policy of imperialism and they are not going to tell us that supporting the Palestinian people is having an anti-Semitic policy.”

In the United Kingdom, the demonstration took place near the Israeli embassy in London to demand the “end of the occupation” in Palestine.

Attendees chanted proclamations such as “Free Palestine” and “no more occupation”, and lit red and green flares during the protest, under a strong police presence, at the demonstration that took place on the central street of High Street Kensington, a few hundred meters from Kensington Palace, official residence in London of the Princes of Wales, William and Catherine.

Also in Lisbon, Portugal, hundreds of people demonstrated in support of the Palestinian people. Something similar happened in Australia when this Monday the demonstrations in favor of the Palestinians took place in the Australian city of Sydney and marched towards the emblematic Opera House, amidst strong security measures, the protesters carried a Palestinian flag and banners with proclamations. such as “Israel is a terrorist state”, “We say no to the occupation” and “Freedom for Palestine”.

In different countries in the Middle East and the region, demonstrations took place on Sunday from Yemen to Turkey, passing through Morocco, Lebanon and Jordan, these were some of the scenarios in which demonstrations in support of the Palestinian people have been recorded.

In recent years under the government of Netanyahu and the extreme religious right, the colonialist policy of the State of Israel has deepened, with systematic murders against the Palestinian population that have increased, not only in the occupied territories of Gaza and the West Bank, but also against the Arabs who live in the same State of Israel and are treated as second-class citizens. And it is this situation of colonial oppression that has recreated Palestinian resistance over and over again for more than seven decades.

In this situation we are not neutral, as we already pointed out on Saturday: we repudiate the declaration of war by the State of Israel. We are on the side of the resistance of the Palestinian people. But that does not mean sharing the strategy and methods of Hamas, which aims to establish a theocratic state. We defend the right to national self-determination of the Palestinian people and fight for a working-class and socialist Palestine in which Arabs and Jews coexist in peace.
