Buraco Quente” is a traditional Brazilian recipe, especially popular in the Northeast region of the country. It is a simple but very tasty dish, made with seasoned ground meat and French bread.

The hot hole consists of a mixture of seasoned ground meat, usually sautéed with onion, garlic, tomato and seasonings to taste, which is placed inside a French loaf of bread (or another type of round, soft bread), forming a kind of “hole”. ” on bread. It is a versatile dish that can be served as a snack, quick meal or snack at parties and informal events.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or chicken)

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 2 chopped tomatoes

  • 1 tablespoon of oil or olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup chopped green chives (cilantro and chives)

  • 4 French loaves (or another type of round, soft bread)

Directions

  • In a pan, heat the oil or olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
  • Add the ground beef and sauté until it is cooked through and starting to brown.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté for a few more minutes until they start to break down.
  • Season with salt, black pepper and other seasonings to taste, such as cumin or paprika, if desired.
  • Lastly, add the chopped green chilli and mix well.
  • Cut the bread in half horizontally and remove some of the crumb, forming a hole in the center of each half.
  • Fill the holes in the buns with the seasoned ground meat.
  • Serve immediately while hot.
