
Escondidinho de carne moída is a typical Brazilian dish made with ground beef, mashed potatoes and cheese. It is an easy dish to make and very tasty.

Ingredients
500g minced meat
1 chopped onion
2 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can of tomato sauce
1/2 cup of water
Salt and pepper to taste
1 kilo of potatoes
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup butter
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Directions
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the ground beef and sauté until well cooked.
- Add the tomato sauce, water, salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Reserve.
- Peel and cut the potatoes into large pieces.
- Cook the potatoes in boiling water until soft.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them.
- Add the milk, butter and mix well until you get a homogeneous puree.
- In a refractory, spread the mashed potatoes.
- Cover with ground beef.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Take to preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes, or until cheese melts and gold.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- To give the escondidinho a more special flavor, you can add other ingredients to the ground meat, such as bacon, olives, corn, peas, etc.
- You can also use other types of cheese, such as parmesan, provolone, or cheddar.
- If you don’t want to use the oven, you can bake the escondidinho in a non-stick pan over medium heat for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
