During the East German Economic Forumthe German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declared that the recent operation of the I’LL TAKE to strengthen its eastern border aims to dissuade Russia. He emphasized that Moscow must understand that the alliance is prepared to defend itself if necessary.
Scholz highlighted the leadership role of Germany in the presence of I’LL TAKE no Balticreiterating the position since almost a decade.
“We decided last year to station additional units in the Baltic States and to place an entire brigade there permanently in the future,” Scholz said, according to a manuscript of the speech.
The German Chancellor also mentioned that the turnaround in security policy is essential to demonstrate NATO’s readiness to defend every inch of its territory against attacks.
He reinforced the importance of diplomacy based on strength, ensuring that Baltic states can rely on Allied support in the event of a Russian attack.
The same week, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned NATO members not to allow Ukraine to use weapons against Russia, following the lifting of restrictions on the use of weaponry donated to Kiev.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg played down the warnings, saying they were repetitive and that self-defense did not constitute escalation.
