Ingredients
1 baguette or day-old French bread
2 cups of milk
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
3/4 cup of sugar
3 eggs
Vegetable oil, for frying
Cinnamon powder
Icing sugar
Directions
- Cut the bread into slices about 2 centimeters thick.
- Reserve.
- In a large bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, and ground cinnamon until sugar is dissolved.
- In another bowl, lightly beat the eggs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan large enough to fry the French toast.
- Dip the bread slices into the milk mixture, making sure to cover both sides completely.
- Let the bread absorb the mixture for a few seconds.
- Then pass the bread slices in the egg mixture, covering them well.
- Carefully place the bread slices in the pan with hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- This usually takes about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the french toasts from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix some icing sugar with powdered cinnamon.
- Sprinkle this mixture over the fried French toast.
- Serve the french toast hot or at room temperature.
- They can be enjoyed alone or accompanied by sugar syrup, dulce de leche or even a scoop of ice cream.
