Representatives of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) called this Wednesday (24) for an independent investigation into the more than 300 bodies found in mass graves in two hospitals in the Gaza Strip, where the armed conflict is taking place. .

According to statistics, 324 bodies were found by Civil Defense this week at the Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Younis. At least 381 bodies were recovered from al-Shifa.

EU diplomatic service spokesman Peter Stano stated that “international human rights violations could have been committed”. The UN requested an “independent, effective and transparent investigation” into the case.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said he was “horrified” by the reports and declared that “the murder of civilians, detainees and others who are out of combat is a war crime”.

Figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health showed that more than 34,000 Palestinians have died since October 7 last year as a result of bombings by Israeli forces.

South African legal authorities denounced the Israeli government at the International Court of Justice for the crime of genocide. The ICJ only recommended that the Israelis stop the massacre in Gaza, which did not happen.
