In many countries in Europe and in the United States, the student movement has been taking over university campuses for weeks and mobilizing against Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip. They demand that universities cut off the financing they receive from companies that invest and collaborate with Israel and denounce governments for the support they give to that colonialist State.

This May 15 in several countries a day of support for the Palestinian people was held, on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe in Arabic), which constituted a process – of disappearance of villages, expulsion of more than a million people and murders – which the Palestinian people commemorate one day after the creation of the State of Israel. It is not just another anniversary, this year the world is witnessing a genocide perpetrated live against the Gaza Strip.

In the Spanish State, demonstrations were held in Madrid, Barcelona and other cities, demanding the breaking of relations and the support of the Spanish government towards Israel. Camps were set up at several universities, following the example started by American students.

The camps that began at the University of Valencia multiplied strongly at the University of Barcelona and the Complutense University of Madrid, which this Wednesday were part of the demonstrations along with other social organizations in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

In France, mobilizations were held in Paris, Touluose and other cities. In the French capital, an event was held at the Sorbonne in which social leaders in the fight against racism Assa Traoré, renowned intellectuals such as Frédéric Lordon and workers participated, including Anasse Kazib, a railway union leader.

This Wednesday’s mobilization takes place in the context of camps and protests in several universities and a policy of repression and persecution by the French government, which maintains its support for Israel.

In Chile, hundreds of students from different universities (University of Chile, USACH, Autonomous University, among others) demonstrated this afternoon in front of the Central House of the University of Chile with a giant banner of the Palestinian flag and a camp inside of the University. This, due to the commemoration of the Nakba, the day of the great catastrophe of the Palestinian people after their diaspora and genocide at the hands of the State of Israel.

In Argentina, the “Argentine Committee of Solidarity with the Palestinian People” carried out political-cultural activities in the City of Buenos Aires in Plaza Hussay, a square in the center of the city that is surrounded by several faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy and Biochemistry, the Hospital teaching clinics and tertiary establishments.

In the action carried out in Buenos Aires, in which social and left-wing organizations participated, the role of the Argentine government and its support for the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza was denounced.

In Mexico, a march was held in Mexico City where thousands of young students and workers, with political, social, women’s and union organizations, demanded the severing of relations between the Mexican government and Israel, a ceasefire in Gaza, and solidarity with the students who protest around the world in defense of the Palestinian people and are repressed.

In Latin America there were also rallies and solidarity actions in countries such as Costa Rica, Venezuela or Bolivia.

In the United States, France, Spain, Germany, Mexico and Brazil, the colleagues who are part of the organizations that promote the International Network La Izquierda Diario actively participated in the actions and Camps in solidarity with Gaza that spread around the world. .

The genocide being carried out by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people, supported by the main imperialist powers and with the complicity of technology and weapons companies, has awakened an international movement of repudiation that has its maximum expression in the solidarity camps with Gaza installed in hundreds of universities around the world.

Students and youth, in many cases together with teachers and university workers, have stood up as an overwhelming social force that is putting Netanyahu’s Government in trouble and damaging the legitimacy with which the Zionist State carries out its massacres. , but also to governments like that of Biden, Macron and all of Israel’s allies in different countries.
