Use the listed ingredients:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups corn flakes (flakes)

  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 chopped medium tomato

  • 1 medium chopped onion

  • 1 chopped medium pepper

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 1 can of sardines in oil (optional)

  • 1 cup of hot water

  • Chilled greens to taste

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix the corn flakes with 1 cup of water and let sit for about 5 minutes to hydrate.
  • In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the onion, tomato, bell pepper and garlic and saute for a few minutes until soft.
  • If using sardines in oil, drain the oil from the can and add the sardines to the pan.
Sauté for a few more minutes.
  • Add the hydrated flakes to the pan and stir well to incorporate all the ingredients.
Add the hot water little by little, stirring constantly, until the mixture is moist and cooked.
  • Be careful not to add too much water and make the couscous too mushy.
  • Season with salt to taste and continue stirring until the dough is cooked and springy, which should take about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for a few minutes to firm up.
  • Unmold the couscous onto a large plate and garnish with chopped parsley on top.
