Venezuela’s CNE releases second bulletin on 28J presidential elections.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela released this Friday the second bulletin of the results of the presidential elections of 28J, based on counting on 96.87 percent of transmission of results, and reported that, in the exercise of their sovereignty, the people elected president Nicolás Maduro Moros, candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole, with 6,408,844 votes (51.95 percent of the votes).

The president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, detailed that the candidate of the Unified Platform (far right), Edmundo González, obtained 5,326,104 votes (43.18 percent).

He reported that massive cyber attacks carried out from different parts of the world against the technological infrastructure of the Electoral Power and the main telecommunications companies in the State delayed the transmission of the minutes and the process of publishing the results.

He added that this was compounded by the consequences of violent acts, which he described as terrorist aggression, which included the burning of regional electoral offices, voting centers and contingency transmission centers.

He said that, despite this, the Electoral Power has so far managed to transmit the majority of the minutes and, as a result, can adhere to what is established in the Organic Law of Electoral Processes and other current rules and inform the people and the international community of the results.

He detailed that participation was 59.97 percent.

He congratulated the people of Venezuela for the profound demonstration of democratic vocation shown during the elections, the personnel deployed through the Republic Plan to guarantee the security of the elections and the international observers.
