Chocolate cake is a popular dessert around the world. 
It is a versatile cake that can be served on any occasion. 
See the ingredients used:

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 and 1/2 cup (tea) sugar

  • 2 cups (tea) of wheat flour

  • 1 cup (tea) chocolate powder

  • 1/2 cup (tea) of oil

  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 cup of hot water

  • 100 g chopped semi-sweet chocolate

  • 1/2 cup (tea) cream

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (medium oven).
  • In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until they form a light and fluffy cream.
  • Add the chocolate powder and oil and beat until incorporated.
  • In another bowl, mix the wheat flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the hot water, and mix gently until a homogeneous dough forms.
  • Pour the dough into a greased and floured pan and bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely before unmolding.
  • Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave.
  • Add the cream and mix until it forms a homogeneous cream.
  • Pour the icing over the still hot cake and let it cool completely.

Notes

  • For a fluffier cake, sift the wheat flour before adding it to the dough.
  • If you want a wetter cake, add 1/2 cup (tea) of milk to the dough.
  • For a more chocolaty cake, use good quality chocolate powder.
