Buttercream frosting

Buttercream frosting is one of the most popular and versatile cake frostings. It is made with butter, powdered sugar, milk and sometimes other ingredients such as extracts or spices.

Buttercream can be used to cover cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other sweets. 
It can also be used to decorate cakes with flowers, leaves or other motifs.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 4 cups of powdered sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

  • Using a mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until fluffy and creamy.
  • Add the icing sugar little by little, beating constantly, until the mixture is homogeneous and fluffy.
  • Add the milk and vanilla extract (if using), and beat until combined.
  • If the frosting is too stiff, add a little milk or cream. 
    If it’s too soft, add more powdered sugar.
