Breaded Onion

Breaded onion is a popular appetizer or side dish in many Latin American and Southern European countries. It is made with onions sliced ​​into rings that are breaded in a mixture of wheat flour, milk and seasonings. The onions are then fried in hot oil until golden and crispy.

Breaded onions are a great way to enjoy the flavor and texture of onions. 
The crispy crust contrasts with the sweetness of the onion, creating a unique flavor experience. 
Breaded onions are also a great source of fiber and nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 4 large onions

  • 1 glass of wheat flour

  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • Frying oil

Directions

  • Peel the onions and cut them into rings approximately 1/2 cm thick.
  • Place the onion rings in a large bowl and cover with cold water. 
    Add a tablespoon of oil and soak for 30 minutes. 
    This will help reduce the bitterness of the onion.
  • In a small bowl, mix the wheat flour, breadcrumbs, salt and black pepper.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg and milk.
  • Drain the onion rings and dip them first in the flour mixture and then in the egg and milk mixture.
  • Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the onion rings in batches until golden and crispy.
  • Drain on paper towel and serve hot.
