Beans with rice is a typical Brazilian recipe that is very simple to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked beans

  • 1 cup of rice

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 1 clove of minced garlic

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Olive oil or oil for sautéing

Directions

  • In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil or oil until they are soft and golden.
  • Add the rice and mix well so that it is coated with oil.
  • Sauté for a few minutes.
  • Add the beans and the 2 cups of water.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover the pan and place over medium-high heat until the water is almost completely absorbed.
  • Lower the heat, and let it cook for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is soft and cooked.
  • Serve it hot.

Notes

  • Tip: you can also add other ingredients like bacon, sausage, ground beef or chicken to make this recipe more elaborate.
