Bean soup

Bean soup is a traditional Brazilian dish. It is a creamy and flavorful soup, made with cooked beans, seasonings and, optionally, other ingredients such as pasta, meat or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups of cooked and seasoned beans (with broth)

  • 1 chopped onion

  • ½ chopped red pepper

  • 1 stalk of chopped celery

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 3 cups (tea) of water

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the onion, pepper and celery and sauté for 3 minutes, until wilted.
  • Add the garlic and sauté for another 1 minute.
  • Add the cooked and seasoned beans and water.
  • Season with salt to taste.
  • Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the soup is creamy.
