See the instructions on how to prepare your Basic Simple Cakes to be perfect. 
Use the ingredients:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 2 eggs

  • ½ cup melted butter (or vegetable oil)

  • 1 ½ cups of sugar

  • ½ teaspoon of salt

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with butter or use parchment paper to line the bottom.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Add the melted butter (or vegetable oil) to the dry mixture and stir until crumbly in texture.
  • In another bowl, lightly beat the eggs and add the milk and vanilla extract (if using).
  • Mix well.
  • Pour the liquid mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until you get a homogeneous mass.
  • Take care not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the surface with a spatula.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes.
  • Then transfer it to a cooling rack and let it cool completely before decorating or serving.
