72% of American voters believe that Biden should not run for re-election. This is according to a survey conducted by American broadcaster CBS News, in partnership with research firm YouGov, which showed that 7 out of 10 voters want current US President Joe Biden to give up running for re-election in November.
It is a clear warning that Trump may be about to return to the political scene, since the arrest of the former Republican president has not materialized due to the political disaster of the Biden administration. The high stakes in Ukraine and the frequent defeats in Congress were undoubtedly big mistakes. The Americans seem to have already made up their minds.
This percentage represents an increase of nine points compared to the previous survey carried out in February.
The study also found that 72% of voters believe Biden is not in a good enough cognitive state to run again. On the other hand, 49% of voters believe former Republican President Donald Trump is in a better state of health to run.
The survey, which interviewed 1,130 voters between June 28 and 29, reflects growing dissatisfaction among voters with Biden’s performance, which intensified after the last debate, where he received harsh criticism, including from allies.
In addition to concerns about his cognitive health, voters have also expressed discontent with Biden’s campaign and his effectiveness as president, compounded by his advanced age, as he will turn 82 in November. Among Democratic voters, 46% are against Biden’s reelection.
The survey’s margin of error is 4.2 percentage points, either way.
