Lucie, the marketing manager of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) team, has new plans announced for Shibarium, the layer-2 protocol within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

New features are planned, including an updated version of ShibaSwap, the official decentralized exchange (DEX) of the SHIB ecosystem. These developments show that the memecoin platform is continuously working on improvement and growth.

Some major updates are expected in 2024, while others won’t be available until 2025. The ShibaSwap update will take place in phases. First, version 1.75 will launch this year, followed by version 2.0 in 2025. The Shiba Inu development team promises new features and an improved user experience for ShibaSwap.

New layer-3 protocol for Shiba Inu

A notable new development is the announcement of a layer-3 testnet. Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s existing layer-2 protocol, already facilitates efficient transactions and supports various functionalities, including Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The planned layer-3 will come on top of Shibarium and introduce further optimizations. It will use the TREAT token for governance and paying gas fees.

The Shiba Inu card game, called Shiba Eternity, will also receive a new play-to-earn (P2E) version. This allows players to stake SHIB tokens in the game and earn cryptocurrency. Such blockchain games provide a fun and attractive way for users to earn extra coins.
