The lawyer from the Professional Center for Human Rights answers questions about the protest measure proposed by the student commission of Unidxs por la Cultura, called “molinetazo”, which is taking place this afternoon in several train and subway stations in protest against the tariff increases and the adjustment. “No, there is no law that penalizes this,” he adds that “Evasion of paying a ticket is not punishable by any law,” says the lawyer.

The “molinetazo” consists of protesters entering train and subway stations without paying the ticket, to express their rejection of the high fares that drown the pockets of the vast majority.

This Friday’s measure, proposed by the student commission of Unidxs por la Cultura, was voted on in student centers and by neighborhood assemblies of the AMBA.

The CeProDH lawyer assures that it is not a crime to jump the turnstiles: “no, there is no law that penalizes this” and adds that “Evasion of paying the ticket is not punishable by any law. There are already many who do it and who exercise the right to protest. “Don’t let yourself be intimidated!” In addition, he calls to confront the injustice that high rates mean for millions: “We have to be many at the stations and in Congress.”

“Now, raising rates and lining our pockets at the expense of those who go out to work or study every day should be illegal.”

“From CeProDH, together with lawyers and students, we will be accompanying the actions in Once, Constitución, Retiro, Rosas and the subsequent cacerolazo in Congress today. “Do not be intimidated, the more we are, the more strength we will have to be able to stop this government’s war plan.”
