
Empadão dough is a traditional puff pastry from Brazilian cuisine. It is used to prepare different types of pies, with different fillings, such as chicken, ground beef, hearts of palm, cheese, etc.

minutesThe pie dough is made with wheat flour, butter or margarine, eggs and salt. The ingredients are mixed until a homogeneous mass is formed. Then, the dough is divided into two equal parts, one part is used to line the casserole shape and the other part is used to close the casserole.

500g wheat flour
250g cold butter
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of salt
Directions
- In a bowl, mix the wheat flour and cold butter until it forms crumbs.
- Add the eggs and salt and knead well until a homogeneous dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts.
- Roll out one part of the dough with a rolling pin until it forms a disc the size of the pie pan.
- Line the pie pan with the open dough.
- Add the pie filling.
- Roll out the other part of the dough with a rolling pin until it forms a disc the size of the pie pan.
- Cover the filling with the open dough.
- Make a decorative cut in the dough.
- Brush the dough with beaten egg.
- Place the pie in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
