Make a Lemon Cake using the ingredients listed below and following the step-by-step preparation instructions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (tea) of wheat flour

  • 1 cup (tea) sugar

  • 1/2 cup (tea) of oil

  • 1 cup of milk (tea)

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest

  • 1/2 cup (tea) lemon juice

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Grease and flour a 24cm round cake tin.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast and lemon zest.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs with the oil until creamy.
  • Add the milk to the egg mixture and beat until smooth.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Add the lemon juice and mix until incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before unmolding.

Notes

  • For a more citrusy cake, use lemons.
  • If you want a moister cake, add 1/2 cup (tea) of natural yogurt to the dough.
  • For a whipped cream topping, beat 1 cup (tea) of fresh cream with 1/4 cup (tea) of sugar until stiff.
