
Quentão is a hot drink traditionally served during fairs and June festivals in Brazil. It can be prepared with red wine or cachaça and is related to the cold nights during the period in which these festivals take place.

Ingredients
4 cups (tea) of cachaça
2 cups (tea) of water
2 cups of sugar (tea)
½ cup of honey
2 tablespoons sliced ginger
Peel of 1 orange
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Directions
- Place the sugar in a pan over low heat, stir well until you get a caramel.
- Add the other ingredients, except the cachaça, and stir well until everything dissolves.
- Turn off the heat and add the cachaça.
- Turn on the heat again and let it boil for 3 minutes.
Serve.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, let the quentão boil for longer, until the sugar completely dissolves.
- You can add other ingredients to the quentão, such as chopped apple, ground cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg.
- Serve the hot dish in clay mugs or crockery to keep it warm.
