For your bruschetta to be perfect, use the ingredients following the step-by-step instructions:

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of Italian bread or baguette

  • 2 ripe tomatoes

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Cut the bread into 1 cm thick slices.
  • On a baking tray, place the slices of bread and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the slices are crispy.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the tomato sauce.
  • Wash the tomatoes and remove the seeds.
  • Chop the tomatoes into small cubes.
  • In a bowl, mix the chopped tomatoes with the chopped garlic, olive oil, salt and black pepper.
  • Remove the slices of bread from the oven and spread the tomato sauce over them.
  • Add basil leaves, if desired.
  • Serve immediately.
