Ingredients

  • 2 cups wheat flour (tea)

  • 1½ cup (tea) sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 50 g butter at room temperature (about 3 tablespoons)

  • ¾ cup of milk (tea)

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 cup wheat flour (tea)

  • 1 cup (tea) of sugar

  • 1 tablespoon(s) cinnamon powder

  • 4 tablespoons butter at room temperature

  • 4 small bananas

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC (average temperature).
  • Grease and dust a 24 cm round cake tin with flour.
  • For the dough, beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the butter, milk and yeast and mix well.
  • Lastly, add the wheat flour and mix until you form a homogeneous dough.
  • For the farofa, mix the wheat flour, sugar, cinnamon and butter until it forms a moist farofa.
  • For the filling, cut the bananas into slices.
  • Place half of the dough in the prepared form.
  • Spread the banana slices over the dough.
  • Cover with the remaining farofa.
  • Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the cuca is golden and the filling is cooked through.
  • Let cool and serve.

Notes

  • For a wetter cuca, add 1/2 cup (tea) of coconut milk to the dough.
  • For a more flavorful dish, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
  • For a more rustic-looking dish, use a spoon to spread the flour over the dough.
