Ingredients

  • 500g beef (filet mignon, rump, or other soft meat) cut into thin strips

  • 1 medium chopped onion

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • 2 tablespoons butter or vegetable oil

  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil (or other vegetable oil for sautéing)

  • 1 can of whey-free cream (300g)

  • 200g sliced ​​fresh mushrooms (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Directions

  • In a large pot, heat the sunflower oil over medium-high heat and add the meat cut into strips.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste and sauté until golden. 
    Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add butter or vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion until transparent.
  • Then add the garlic and sliced ​​mushrooms (if using) and cook for a few minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and return the meat to the pan.
  • Add the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. 
    Mix all ingredients well.
  • Add the beef stock (or water) to the pot and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Turn off the fire and incorporate the whey-free milk cream into the mixture.
  • If you prefer, add a pinch of nutmeg to enhance the flavor.
  • Reheat the mixture over low heat, without bringing it to a boil, until it is very hot.
  • Check seasoning and adjust salt and pepper if necessary.
