Cod with Cream and Potatoes

To prepare this Cod with Cream and Potatoes, use the ingredients below and follow the step-by-step instructions for preparation.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes

  • 500g desalted and shredded codfish

  • 2 medium onions

  • 2 packets of cream (400ml)

  • 4 garlic cloves

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 150g grated cheese (preferably gruyere or parmesan)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Nutmeg (optional)

  • Chopped parsley to garnish

Directions

  • Start by cooking the potatoes in salted water until soft.
  • Then peel and cut them into slices. 
    Reserve.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large pan, heat the oil and add the chopped onions and chopped garlic cloves.
  • Sauté until golden.
  • Add the shredded codfish to the pan and cook for a few minutes until it is well incorporated into the seasonings.
  • Add the cream to the codfish and mix well.
  • Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  • Let cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • In a refractory, place a layer of boiled potatoes and, on top, a layer of cod with cream.
  • Repeat the layers until the ingredients are finished, ending with the cod.
  • Sprinkle the grated cheese over the cod and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and garnish with chopped parsley.
