Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • Pepper to taste (optional)

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into small, even pieces.
  • In a large pot, add the sliced ​​potatoes and cover with cold water.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the water.
  • Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
  • Cook the potatoes until they are tender when pierced with a fork (usually about 15 to 20 minutes).
  • While the potatoes are cooking, heat the milk in a small saucepan over low heat until hot (do not boil).
  • When the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the hot pan over low heat.
  • With a potato masher or a fork, mash the potatoes until they are finely crumbled.
  • Add the butter to the mashed potatoes and mix well until the butter is completely melted.
  • Gradually add the heated milk to the mashed potatoes, stirring continuously, until desired consistency is achieved.
  • If you prefer a creamier puree, add a little more milk.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. 
    Mix well to distribute the seasonings.
  • Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and serve immediately while hot.
