Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice

  • 4 cups of water

  • 1 liter of milk

  • 1 can of condensed milk

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • Lemon peel (optional)

  • Cinnamon powder for sprinkling (optional)

Directions

  • In a large pot, add rice, water and a pinch of salt.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • In another pan, heat the milk over medium heat.
  • Add condensed milk, cinnamon stick and lemon peel (if using).
  • Stir well to mix the ingredients.
  • When the rice is cooked, slowly pour the milk mixture into the pan with the rice.
  • Stir constantly to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom.
  • Cook the rice pudding over low heat, stirring regularly, until the mixture begins to thicken and takes on a creamy consistency. 
    This usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon rind (if used) and transfer the rice pudding to a serving bowl.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle ground cinnamon on top, if desired.
  • Sweet rice can be served hot, warm or cold, according to your preference. 
    You can also refrigerate it before serving if you want a chilled version.
